Travelling from Singapore to Other Countries During the Pandemic
Before anything else, make sure that you comply with the necessary health protocols of your destination countries. Also check if they allow travellers of your nationality and purpose (business, social visit, emergency, etc.)
BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
Make sure you comply with the necessary health protocols of your destination countries. Make sure that they allow travellers of your nationality and purpose (business, social visit, emergency, etc.)
Save a copy of your vaccination record and keep it ready just in case your destination country will ask for details of your inoculation (e.g. dates, or brand).
ON THE DAY OF THE FLIGHT
Wearing of FACE MASK is a must!
On the day of the flight, prepare the following, in addition to your passport:
a. Health declaration form from Singapore
b. Health declaration form from your destination country
c. A printout of your ticket
d. Download the necessary contact tracing app required by your destination country.
Make sure you take note which terminal your airline will be. Your friends and family can only drop you off at the drop off point. They are not to go in any further than the main drop off point. Before you enter, turn on the Trace Together app and scan the QR code at the entrance. Upon entering, an officer will ask to see your passport and ticket.
Head to your designated check in counter. There will be someone who will ask for your passport and ticket. He/she will then give you a checklist of things to prepare. You will be asked to fill up the Singapore Health Declaration form (white form), among others.
CHECK IN, CHECK IN YOUR LUGGAGE AND IMMIGRATION CLEARANCE
You need to hand over your ticket and passport to the staff in the check in counter. At the moment, none of the automated self-service check-in processes are currently in place. Then, place your check in bag on the conveyer belt. Once everything is in order, you will then receive your boarding pass and passport.
Subsequently, head to the Departure Gate where an ICA Officer will check out your boarding pass and passport. This is as per the usual protocol.
After that, head to Immigration. At the automated gantry, scan your passport and your fingerprints. Remember to sanitize after this process.
You may then proceed to your boarding gate.
A lot of shops are shuttered. So make sure you bring some snacks with you.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS AT THE BOARDING GATE
The safety protocols at Changi Airport are impressive. But then again, you also have to do your part. If you have a fever, cough, runny nose or sore throat, you need to report to the health screening station immediately!
When you enter your designated zone, you will not be allowed to go out again to purchase from Duty Free, or even to grab snacks. Also, there are no vending machines open. There are toilets in each zone though, so there’s that.
You will notice that the staff are in full PPEs. Do your part by not taking off your masks and minimize talking on the phone. Also, be mindful of your belongings.
You will, however, be asked to take off your masks inside the boarding gate so the staff can validate your passport photo.
Do remember to practice social distancing as you wait for boarding.
